How to use scientific methods and tools to do (data) journalistic research; social network analysis being one among several useful methods. Examples from data processing (collect and analyse data), text to text extraction (robot journalism) etc. Focus on open source programs we work with (as far as we can), so this presentation is both for journalists and for programmers.
