Dataharvest 2014 has ended

Investigative journalists, data specialists and coding whiz kids will once again gather in Brussels this year for the fourth edition of Journalismfund.eu’s Dataharvest Conference. Dataharvest+ takes place on Friday 9, Saturday 10 and Sunday morning 11 May 2014.

The Migrants Files provided a new estimate of the number of persons who died attempting to reach or stay in Europe since the year 2000. It also showed that all statements by officials on "improving the safety of migrants" were full of hot air, as no one is measuring casualties in any way. The presentation will focus on how we merged and deduplicated several databases, how we checked the data, how we worked as a team of 10+ persons throughout Europe and how we managed to publish simultaneously in 10 media outlets. http://www.journalismfund.eu/migrants-files
